Dating Tips

To prelude this blog, I am the owner of bookofmatches.com, a fun dating site for all. Because of my ability to see the behind the scenes statistics of online dating, I would like to share with you my thoughts on how you can benefit the most from online dating and then follow it up by member ideas and experiences. If you are a member of bookofmatches.com or another dating site and have had a positive experience, please share your success story to help others benefit.

Every dating site has its own method of hooking people up. Some sites offer extensive matching capabilities to match people based on personalities. These kinds of sites can truly be fun from the standpoint of seeing who the site hooks you up with. Because of the way they're designed, these sites can truly go through thousands of behind the scenes profiles to get you the best match. That being said, however, from a different perspective, these kinds of sites can be limiting or box you in as they are good at getting you to focus only on the matches that the site picks for you.

Because I am privileged to seeing the behind the scenes statistics, the best way for singles to be successful at finding compatibility is by simply playing the numbers game. In other words, you need to talk to as many people as you can on as many sites possible. The more you cast your line, the better your chances as the numbers will prove to be in your favor. If you spend all of your time talking to one or two people, you will never branch out and realize someone better is out there waiting for you that just might be a better match. Open the book, flip through as many pages and strike as many matches as possible! In any situation where you think you have found a match, meet them as soon as possible. It's important to make sure that who you are talking to online is the same person behind the scenes. If you meet someone you don't like, just make sure you get the fake ringer on your iPhone. That way you can make your phone ring and duck out of the date early.

Any experience or thoughts from members of boM or another site? What has been your experience and tell others your recommendations on how to be successful at meeting someone online....

  1. I agree, if you want to meet someone from the internet, it is all about the numbers. You also need to actively participate in the sites you join. Whether it be bookofmatches.com or another dating/friends site, any good site will have features where you can interact with other members. Don't just create a profile and hope that your special someone will just magically appear, because it's just not gonna happen. I think that your chances of meeting someone will greatly improve if you are an active member, as opposed to a passive one.

I met (and later married) someone that I met from bookofmatches.com (or boM to those of us who are on there). We started casually chatting as friends, found that we had alot in common (but not everything because that would be really boring...lol) and things progressed from there. Eventually we decided that we wanted to meet in person. A mutual friend who lived close to me was having a housewarming party and invited the woman who would eventually become my better half down for the party.

She came down, we met in a public place, found that the chemistry was there in person just as much as it had been online, and on the phone. We had both heard the horror stories about people who weren't who they seemed to be online and while we knew that this wouldn't be the case with us it was still better safe than sorry. Besides if it didn't work out and we didn't click it's easier to say that last awkward goodbye in a public place and bow out gracefully.

Needless to say this wasn't the case with us...lol

She moved here 2 months later, and the rest as they say is history

  2. Men who only want to meet you in private have ulterior motives. Mainly sex. Never let a stranger come to your home, no matter how well you think you know them from the internet.
